Customer Relations Certificate Program
This program is also available as part of the PA Career Pathway Pilot Project.
Eleven (11) undergraduate credits in total, credits can apply toward the Professional Studies Option of Associate Degree in Business at Penn State.
This certificate program is designed for individuals who are new or existing customer service professionals or those aspiring to a leadership role in customer service. Participants will learn why customer relationships are critical to business success and develop skills to act in a timely and confident manner to solve customer problems.
Course 1 – 1 credit
The Role of Customer Service in the Context of Business (B A 297)
Frames customer service in the context of today’s business environment.
Course 2 – 3 credits
Contemporary American Marketing (MKTG 221)
Social and economic aspects of movement of goods and services to customers.
Course 3 – 1 credit
Customer Contact (B A 297)
Aspects and practice of dealing with customers and the public. Designed as practicum and skill development component to the marketing course.
Course 4 – 3 credits
Group Communications (CAS 100B)
Communication implemented through group problem solving and working in teams.
Course 5 – 3 credits
Management Information Systems (MIS 204)
Business computer systems and their impact on decision making for customer service.
Tentative Delivery Schedule:
Dates: Wednesday evenings beginning January 9, 2007 and continuing through delivery of the first 5 credits (3 courses). End date is June 4. (Weather cancellation dates may be added) Final two courses will be scheduled in summer and fall of 2008 for certificate completion.
Time: 5:30 -8:30 pm
Location: Luzerne County Community College
Program Fee: $423 per credit (5 credits = $2115) plus technology fees and texts
